OpenSignal is the independent global standard for analyzing consumers’ true experience on mobile networks. Our mission is to provide the truth in mobile network experience because we believe greater transparency will encourage mobile network improvements, help consumers choose a mobile operator, boost competition and lead to better connectivity for everyone.
Our company, employees, mobile analytics and analysis, industry reports and market data are completely independent. Our analytics provide the authoritative view of the real-world mobile experience of consumers. OpenSignal aims to be transparent in the way we report our mobile analytics and insights.
The OpenSignal Independence Charter means:
Our expert team of engineers, data scientists and analysts have developed our approach independently over the years since OpenSignal was founded in 2010. OpenSignal analytics and results are based on the real-world measurements collected directly from millions of smartphones worldwide. We back up our analysis with data. To derive the results, OpenSignal has developed a sophisticated, industry-leading methodology combining a detailed understanding of mobile networks with modern data science principles. OpenSignal applies a single, consistent methodology globally.
OpenSignal’s business model is to sell independent mobile analytics and insights. Any company is able to subscribe to receive this analytics service, but becoming a customer grants no influence over OpenSignal’s independent results, methodology, reports or analysis.
OpenSignal will never charge a company to be included in our reports. Nor will OpenSignal take payments in advance to guarantee that a public report will allocate an award to a specific company or to record any other predetermined outcome.
OpenSignal’s public reporting schedule is independently set by our internal editorial team. We never change the timing of OpenSignal public reports because of requests by current or potential customers.
OpenSignal retains editorial control of our reports and we will always express our analysis of the implications arising from the real-world mobile network experience data we collect.
Extracts of OpenSignal reports may be cited “as is” and without alteration by mobile operators, analysts, regulators or other companies but only if the company has received written permission from OpenSignal in advance, and subject to the appropriate agreements. Press and media are authorized to cite OpenSignal analytics reports with appropriate attribution. Please visit our press room or contact email@example.com for more information.
OpenSignal may conduct collaborative analysis with other independent research analysis companies, academic institutions or other organizations. Any such collaborations will be clearly labelled in the resulting reports or presentation materials.
OpenSignal is not owned in part or in whole by any mobile operator which OpenSignal covers in its public reports and analysis.
OpenSignal will ensure any conflicts of interest which may emerge by its employees are resolved.
OpenSignal’s leadership team, engineers, data scientists, analysts, sales professionals, and marketers have all agreed and committed to comply with this charter.
Please note: This charter is a statement of best practice only, which OpenSignal will aim to follow at all times, but it does not create any legally binding rights, or any obligations, on OpenSignal or its customers.
